Family owned and operated, Wahoo’s Adventures is the original Whitewater Outfitter of the High Country (Western North Carolina and Northeast Tennessee). We have been chosen 2-time recipient of the Outfitter of the Year award by the Professional Paddlesports Association. Since 1979, Wahoo’s has provided tens of thousands of guests with premier whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding and tubing adventures on well-known waters located on The New River near Todd, NC; Watauga River near Elizabethton, TN; Nolichucky River near Erwin, TN; Wilson Creek in Pisgah, North Carolina.

Professional Guides
On any whitewater trip, “the Guide Makes the Ride”. Having confidence in your guide’s skills and abilities greatly enhances your outdoor experience. At Wahoo’s, we are extremely proud of our flawless safety record, a distinction earned through hard work combined with meticulous guide and river rescue training. The guides at Wahoo’s are renowned for their experience, safety, and rescue knowledge. Most of our guides have been on our staff for years. They pride themselves as “Teachers of the Outdoors”, offering knowledge, instruction, and humor with a strong commitment to provide a safe, thoroughly enjoyable good time!
– All Wahoo’s Guides maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications
– Our Trip Leaders and River Managers maintain either Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness EMT certifications.
– All Nolichucky, Wilson’s Creek and Watauga Trips include guides with years of extensive Swift Water Rescue training.

Anyone who has been rafting is most likely accustomed to the old vans, old buses, mismatched rafts, smelly life jackets, dirty helmets, and chipped paddles that have long been associated with the industry. As a Professional Outfitter, we guarantee the finest equipment money can buy! Here at Wahoo’s Adventures, we strive to continually update our equipment to meet the current needs and challenges of the whitewater industry. Our fleet of vans and buses are among the finest vehicles of any outfitter in the country. Our river equipment is all state of the art and the benchmark of the industry. A whitewater rafting trip with Wahoo’s also means all matching lifejackets, boats, and paddles. In fact, for the 2017 season, we have lots of brand new equipment including: life jackets and several additions to our fleet of state of the art Hyside inflatables.

Location, Convenience, and Comfort
Wahoo’s Adventures takes pride in being the only outfitter offering outposts at each of our areas premier river locations. If you are considering a canoeing, kayaking, or tubing trip on the New River you will be pleased to know that we own over 1,000 feet of river frontage. We also provide a private gated secure parking lot, covered picnic shelter, tree house accommodations, primitive camping, and bathrooms. You will be able to relax and rest assured in your boat knowing that your car and personal property is safe and secure at all of our river outposts while you play. If you want to go whitewater rafting at either the Nolichucky or Watauga River, we provide your group with great river stores, clean restrooms, private changing rooms before your trip, and clean, hot showers for after your experience. At the Watauga our fantastic riverside outpost marks the end of your rafting excursion allowing you to conveniently jump right out of your boat and in a few steps be at our riverside picnicking/camping areas. Picnic areas are located on the banks of the river with the other, a large dining facility fully covered and screened in that overlooks the fast moving Watauga with seating for sixty people. We offer catering for any kind of cuisine you can desire!
